Your Online Tobacco Shopping Guide
Cheap Cigarettes Here is an online collection of links to tobacco stores — a research tool and shopping guide for discount cigarettes and cigars. We do not sell, stock, or ship tobacco products. Instead, we connect you with licensed duty-free suppliers from the UK, USA, Europe, France, Greece, and other regions.
Our catalog features dozens of major cigarette brands alongside affordable lesser-known options. Every listed retailer is presented as truthful, time-proven, and certified. Buyers are responsible for checking customs laws in their country before ordering.
Explore the Catalog →Calculate the total landed cost of imported cigarettes
A low overseas price is only the starting point. The total landed cost includes the cigarettes, international postage, customs duty, tobacco excise, GST, courier charges and payment fees. Comparing the advertised price alone can make an imported order appear cheaper than buying from a licensed Australian retailer.
Australian buyers should also separate personal arrivals from commercial imports. The catalogue links to external suppliers and does not sell, stock or ship tobacco itself. Confirm that the supplier accepts Australian orders and that the purchaser will meet every declaration, duty and excise obligation before paying.
Start with the customs value
Begin with the commercial invoice and identify the Incoterm. Under terms such as EXW, the buyer may owe transport from the supplier’s warehouse; under CIF or DDP, some international costs may already be included. Those amounts must be separated so freight and taxes are not counted twice.
Customs value normally starts with the transaction value of the cigarettes. It can also include packing, assists, royalties and international freight or insurance where the applicable valuation rules require them. A discount must be allocated across the goods rather than treated as a separate cash discount, while the country of origin may differ from the country where the parcel was dispatched.
Ask a DDP supplier for a full breakdown of its landed quote. Its final invoice may already contain customs value, duty, GST, freight and handling, but a single total does not show whether each component is accurate or whether a tariff preference has been claimed.
Add duty, excise and GST
Customs duty depends on the tariff classification, product description and country of origin. Cigarettes containing tobacco have their own classification, while cigars and rolling tobacco may fall under different headings. Check the current Australian Customs Tariff and obtain evidence of origin before assuming a free trade agreement rate applies.
Tobacco excise is based principally on quantity. For cigarettes, calculate the number of sticks by multiplying packs by cigarettes per pack, then apply the current Commonwealth Tobacco Excise rate. If the applicable rate were $200 per 1,000 cigarettes, an order containing 3,000 sticks would attract $600 in excise, subject to the current rate and official assessment.
GST is charged at 10%, but it is not applied only to the original invoice. For an import, the GST base can include customs value, customs duty, excise and relevant transport or statutory charges. A useful working calculation is:
GST = (customs value + duty + excise + other assessable import charges) × 10%
Use the Australian Taxation Office’s current rates rather than figures copied from an overseas retailer.
Calculate freight and import charges
International postage can change quickly with fuel surcharges, parcel size, distance and delivery time. Some bargain cigarette sites publish Europe-only delivery terms, as regional shipping restrictions explain. Treat a restricted destination as a reason to confirm eligibility with the supplier, not to use informal forwarding methods that could breach Australian law.
On arrival, the cost may include a customs broker fee, terminal or depot handling, storage, residential delivery and an import charge collected by the courier. A parcel travelling to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane may have different last-mile costs from one going to a regional or remote Australian address. Ask for the full postage to the actual delivery postcode.
Insurance, signature fees, card surcharges and currency-conversion losses belong in the comparison as well. If the supplier charges in euros or US dollars, record the exchange rate used for the transaction and the fee charged by the card provider or payment platform. Keep a small allowance for parcels that arrive late or require extra documentation.
Build comparable supplier quotes
Use one worksheet for every supplier and list the invoice price, quantity, customs value, duty rate, excise, GST, international freight, insurance, Australian handling, last-mile postage and payment fees. Record the Incoterm beside each figure. Comparing quotes on the same basis makes a larger customs-value charge visible instead of hiding it inside an apparently cheap delivered total.
For illustration, suppose the goods are $650, packing is $20 and international freight and insurance are $80, producing a customs value of $750. If hypothetical duty were 5%, it would be $37.50. For 3,000 cigarettes at a hypothetical $200 per 1,000, excise would be $600. GST on $1,387.50 would be $138.75. Adding $45 for local delivery and $12 for payment charges gives a landed total of $1,583.25, or $527.75 per 1,000 cigarettes.
Catalogues and email alerts can help identify price changes. For a supplier communication strategy, this newsletter platform comparison explains the trade-offs between two mailing services. An alert should prompt a fresh quote, though, rather than replace calculating the final delivered amount.
Check Australian import rules
The Australian Border Force determines whether goods are imported for personal use or commercial sale and which duties, taxes and declarations apply. A personal duty-free allowance is not automatically available for a discounted online order intended for resale or repeated supply. Do not split a commercial consignment into smaller personal shipments to avoid assessment.
Tobacco is tightly controlled in Australia. Buyers must be at least 18, and any imported product must satisfy applicable packaging, labelling and regulatory requirements. Commercial buyers should confirm additional obligations with the Australian Border Force, the Australian Taxation Office and relevant state or territory authorities before arranging freight.
Retain the commercial invoice, packing list, tariff code, country-of-origin evidence, quantity, Incoterm and proof of payment. Low-value parcels can still attract GST, duty and tobacco excise. If the supplier will not provide the information needed for a declaration, the full landed cost cannot be calculated reliably.
Compare the final delivered price
Divide the final cost by the number of cigarettes and compare it with the shelf price at a licensed Australian retailer. Local purchases already include GST and tobacco excise, so an overseas order must beat that benchmark after every border and delivery charge. A saving on the supplier’s invoice may disappear once excise and last-mile postage are included.
Consider reliability as well as price. Australian Post and private couriers can apply tobacco restrictions under their terms, and a rejected or delayed parcel may lose the entire postage charge. A slightly higher quote with tracked delivery, clear documentation and an Australian destination already invoiced can be the safer choice.
Finally, test how the result changes when the exchange rate moves, the courier adds a surcharge or the official duty or excise rate changes. Keep a contingency of roughly five to ten per cent and recalculate the total whenever the quantity, destination or tax treatment changes.
Use a landed-cost worksheet before placing any order, then have a customs broker or qualified Australian importer verify the duty and excise treatment. Check the current official rates and declaration rules, and proceed only when the supplier provides a complete, destination-specific quote with every charge visible.
